Shubunkin Goldfish (Carassius auratus) belongs to Cyprinidae family originated from Japan.

Fresh water fishes

They are a hardy, single-tailed goldfish with pearlescent scales and a pattern known as calico. Hence these fishes are referred to as the Calico or Speckled Goldfish. 

Ornamental fishes

They are omnivorous. The high-quality dried foods can be fed regularly. Nutritious pellets and flakes can also be given. Some live and frozen foods such as bloodworms, brine shrimp, Daphnia, and tubifex worms will be a healthy diet for them.

The medium-sized gravel substrate can be included in the aquarium. Then, add plants to create a natural habitat. Smooth rocks and pieces of driftwood can also be added in the aquarium.

Medium Sized Fishes

The average size of Shubunkin Goldfish will be five or six inches when fully grown. The lifespan is 10 to 15 years.

Colour fishes

Their body has shades of orange, red, white and grey color with overlapping patches of black (along with dark speckles) that extend to the finnage of Shubunkins. They also possess pearlescent scales.

The head of this fish is typically wide but short. It has a fuller tail that looks like the letter “B. Their bodies are narrow while the expansive dorsal fin is almost always standing upright.
