Oxudercid fishes

Play Bumblebee are an interesting and wonderful little fishes attract the most attention in almost any aquarium. They have become popular among aquarists because of their amazing looks.

Fishes

Play Bumblebee (Brachygobius xanthozonus) belongs to Oxudercidae family. They originated in Southeast Asia, commonly found in slow-moving streams and tributaries around Indonesia, Vietnam, and Thailand. They are also known as bumblebee goby.

Fresh water fishes

These fishes are quite peaceful. But it has some territorial behaviour; they will claim small part of the tank as their own. If another fish of the same species enters, they may attack them. They can be kept with other bumblebee fish in a group of around 7 fish for a 10 or 15-gallon tank. These small fishes can become a target for larger species. Thus, other bumblebee gobies or larger shrimp are suitable tank mates for them.

Ornamental fishes

They are carnivores. Bloodworms, daphnia, and tubifex and brine shrimp can be fed to them.

Aquarium fishes

They are the small sized fishes; so several fishes can be kept in a single 10-gallon tank without any issues. You should match your tank with the water quality the fish were raised in. In order to mimic their natural environment, add a nice sandy substrate at the bottom of the tank. Then plenty of decorations such as plants, rocks, driftwood and Items like coconut hides or even ceramic tubes can be included in the aquarium which will provide hiding spots for them.

They don’t tolerate strong water flow. A standard filtration system is enough for normal water flow. The Tanks should be fully cycled before adding the fish.

Small Sized Fishes

The average size of these fishes is only about an inch and a half long. Their lifespan is up to 3 years.

Color fishes

They have alternating stripes of black and yellow color that cover their entire bodies. The male fishes are most vibrantly colored than female fishes. They have small heads and slender bodies. Males are slimmer than females. Even so, both have the same round head and bulbous eyes.

The most part of the fins are transparent with corresponding black stripe of their bodies.
